Methane (CH4). It supplies the energy to cook our food. It heats our buildings and by some strange quirk powers some fridges to keep our food cool and fresh. I've also heard of gas showers and gas tumble driers. Wonderful stuff. The colour of a natural gas flame is one of my favourite shades of blue.
