A Retirement "Do"!

A "Wee night oot" for a retiring colleague.

Thursday - Street Theatre

Edinburgh during Festival time is a colourful place, especially on the Royal Mile where much street theatre takes place and where many can be found handing-out fliers for their shows.

This rather impressive old sandstone bridge spans the River Irvine at Dreghorn in Ayrshire.

MON

Battleships on the Clyde. I think the two vessels visible this side of the quay are minesweepers while the larger one berthed on the far side of the quay is a frigate. More than happy if someone can keep me right.

This is the tower at Glasgow's Science Centre. If you've never been up it you really should get yourself there. The ascent by external lift is fun and the view from the top is amazing. However, the most amazing thing about this tower is that it rotates in its entirety: not just the viewing cabin at the top, the entire height of the structure rotates to always face into the wind, pivoting on an unbelievably small point of contact at its base with a system of small stabilising and drive wheels. The point of main support is so small the structure has been likened to a pen sitting in a holder.

"Drum" - now owned by the Arnold Clark organisation I believe, was previously owned by Duran Duran singer, Simon Le Bon. Apparently Arnold Clark use it for team building exercises, presumably with the chosen few........ but I may be wrong.

TUE

A landmark for the people of Inverclyde and countless seafarers, the Cloch Lighthouse sits on the shoreline just before Gourock and across the Firth of Clyde from Dunoon.

SAT

A sign of a rare victory for the national team (U21 maybe) playing at Rugby Park a couple of years ago.

FRI

This tower is to be found as part of the original structure of Kilmarnock Academy. Apparently astronomy used to be a frequent pursuit on favourable nights.

THU

This was taken from the tower at the Science Centre in Glasgow and shows the sea-plane which operates a commuter service between Glasgow and Oban, making its departure. Arrival is an even more spectacular site as the seaplane flies in lower than the height of the tower's observation cabin.

Hardeep goes Nutz!

Hardeep Singh Koli has a dance with Nutz the KFC squirrel while entertaining the crowds at the recent Johnnie Walker Rally in Kilmarnock's Kay Park while the stage was reset for Hue and Cry to perform.
