Peggy & Gregory

This young mother elephant, Peggy, and her calf Gregory, live on my living room window sill. Does anyone know why tradition suggests ornamental elephants should be placed to face the door into the room?

Olympus E3; ISO 200; f16; 1/125s; 35mm.

  1. They are placed towards the exit, as a elephant that cannot see the exit may beocme panicked at the thought of being trapped. Nevermind that they are bad luck anyway as the trunks are pointing down.

  2. Oh dear - didn't know that about the downward trunks, but thanks for the info on the positioning regarding doors.
