The Garden Frog

This frog has lived in our garden since it metamorphosed from a tadpole too many years ago for me to remember.

Upright Grand

I felt like to photographing the insides of a piano tonight, so I did. My mother's Upright Grand, which she's had for forty-six years!

The Falkirk Wheel

Based on the displacement theory as described by Archimedes, the Falkirk Wheel lifts canal traffic through the 17.5m height difference to allow efficient transit between the Union and Forth & Clyde Canals. Prior to its construction this required a day navigating eleven traditional locks. The struture is basically a huge balance whose equilibrium is upset by a nudge from about 18kW of electric motor power to start it on its rotational journey. A further 1.5kW keeps the balance rotating to transfer upper and lower gondolas, complete with their cargos of canal boats. Thoroughly amazing, the only such device in the world and it's here, on our doorstep. If you haven't been, get there, soon!

Need to eat more like this.......

Continuing yesterday's fruit theme, I thought I'd use some rather nice looking fruit kebabs we had at a Healthy Working Lives event today.

Fruit

Something I always think of when I hear the title "Still Life".

(Tuesday) Album Cover..........?

This was done on Scalpsie Beach, Isle of Bute, during a landscape shooting trip. Just shows there's always time for a bit of silliness. Thanks to Tom and Scott.

Another Bulb Image

Well I said I'd do some more bulb images so here we are. I removed the bulb's outer shell to expose the inner glass mount and filament. Amazingly simple design and construction and all that light from such a small piece of coiled wire.......
